 Early years

Bolt was born on 21 August 1986 in Sherwood Content, a small town in Trelawny, Jamaica, and grew up with his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, his brother Sadiki, and his sister Sherine. His parents ran the local grocery store in the rural area, and Bolt spent his time playing cricket and football in the street with his brother, later saying, "When I was young, I didn’t really think about anything other than sports".

As a child, Bolt attended Waldensia Primary, where he first began to show his sprinting potential, running in the annual national primary-schools' meeting for his parish. By the age of twelve, Bolt had become the school's fastest runner over the 100 metres distance.

Upon his entry to William Knibb Memorial High School, Bolt continued to focus on other sports, but his cricket coach noticed Bolt's speed on the pitch and urged him to try track and field events. Pablo McNeil, a former Olympic sprint athlete, and Dwayne Jarrett coached Bolt, encouraging him to focus his energy on improving his athletic abilities. The school had a history of success in athletics with past students, including sprinter Michael Green. Bolt won his first annual high school championships medal in 2001, taking the silver medal in the 200 metres with a time of 22.04 seconds. McNeil soon became his primary coach, and the two enjoyed a positive partnership, although McNeil was occasionally frustrated by Bolt's lack of dedication to his training and his penchant for practical jokes.
Bolt expresses a love for dancing and his character is frequently described as laid-back and relaxed.[dead link] Bolt's Jamaican track and field idols include Herb McKenley and former Jamaican 100 m 200 m world record holder, Don Quarrie. Michael Johnson, the former 200 m world and Olympic record holder, is also held in high esteem by Bolt. The first sport to interest him was cricket and he said if he was not a sprinter he would be a fast bowler instead. As a child he was a supporter of the Pakistani cricket team and admired the bowling of Waqar Younis. He is also a fan of Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, West Indian opener Chris Gayle and Australian opener Matthew Hayden. During a charity cricket match Bolt clean-bowled Chris Gayle. Gayle was complimentary of Bolt's pace and swing. Bolt also struck a six off Chris Gayle's bowling. Another bowler complimentary of Bolt's pace was former West Indies fast-bowling great Curtly Ambrose. Australian cricketer Shane Warne said on 12 August 2012 that Bolt is interested to play for cricket team Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League. Bolt confirmed this aying,"(Shane Warne) contacted me and asked me about if I am serious and if I really want to do it then he can put in a few words that should get it done."
Bolt's personal best of 9.58 seconds in the 100 metres is the fastest ever legal time. Bolt also holds the second fastest time of 9.63 seconds, the current Olympic record. Tyson Gay recorded a time of 9.68 s at the 2008 US Olympic Trials, but was aided with a tail wind of 4.1 m/s, exceeding the legal limit of 2.0 m/s set by the IAAF and nullifying its inclusion as a world record. Obadele Thompson's run of 9.69 s in 1996 is also not recognised as it was aided by a 5.0 m/s tail wind.

Bolt's personal best of 19.19 s in the 200 metres is the world record. This was recorded at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin against a headwind of −0.3 m/s. He has also broken the Olympic record with a time of 19.30 s (more precisely 19.296 s)—the previous world record prior to Berlin 2009—thus breaking Michael Johnson's previous world record and Olympic record of 19.32 s. After Bolt and Johnson's record setting runs, the next fastest time is almost three tenths of a second slower: Tyson Gay's personal best of 19.58 s.[needs update] Bolt is the only non-United States sprinter in the IAAF top five.

The Jamaican relay team including Bolt, set the 4x100 metres world and Olympic records at the 2008 Olympics with a time of 37.10 seconds. This is the only run in the IAAF top ten performances which was not set by an American team.

Bolt also holds the 200 metres world teenage best results for the age categories 15 (20.58 s), 16 (20.13 s, world youth record), 17 (19.93 s) and 18 (19.93 s, world junior record). He also holds the 150 metres world best set in 2009, during which he ran the last 100 metres in 8.70 seconds, the quickest timed 100 metres ever.

(Jacobkrishnak) VOICE OF GOD

Hearing God's Voice
Forward "And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth."
- Acts 22:14
From Genesis to Revelation, it has been the heartbeat desire of God to dwell among His people. One important aspect of that is communication and intimacy, out of which we can learn to hear His voice. Unfortunately, some denominations dismiss this, saying things like, "We don't need to hear God's voice. We have the Word." Yes, we have God's Word, and in the Word, Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice" (John 10:16).

So why do people who use this excuse not practice God's Word in this regard? Let us be challenged to go beyond our denominational biases and truly step forward to be a vessel of honor for the Lord!

Index Hearing the Voice of God - What is it?
Is it Biblical?
How Come We Can't Hear?
How Do We Know It's Him?
How Can I Hear His Voice?
A Personal Testimony
Hearing the Voice of God - What is it? In Genesis 3:8, we see Adam and Eve. "And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day..." God desires to walk among us and talk among us. It's more a question - not of how to hear God's voice, but will we hear Him? Will we say, "Yes, Lord!" and obey His command? Adam and Eve disobeyed the voice of God who told them not to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the rest of verse 8 says, "Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden."
God can speak to us in various ways. It is important to know that not all of God's communication is vocal.

A still small voice. Elijah was on the run in 1 Kings 19 from evil Queen Jezebel who ordered his death, after a mighty miracle in which he challenged the prophets of Baal to call upon their God while Elijah called upon his. As a result, God consumed Elijah's altar with fire, and Jezebel's unanswered prophets were all put to death. Despite God's marvelous works, His mightiest prophet was frightened and had retreated into a cave.
1 Kings 19:11-13 says, "And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was [so], when Elijah heard [it], that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?"

A voice in your ear. Isaiah 30:21 says, "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Conviction by the Holy Spirit. John 16:8 says that when the Holy Spirit comes, He will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement. In the same fashion, let's say you were about to say something really nasty to someone. You suddenly either feel a "pulling back" by the Holy Spirit to not say that nasty thing, or you sense the Lord tap you on the skull and say, "Son, that's not nice. Don't say that." The word "to convict" is also translated as "to reprove." We must be humble and accept God's reproof of our actions!
Being led by the Spirit. Romas 8:14 says, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." When you are in a constant state of loving intimacy with Jesus, and you not only allow Him to lead your life, but you are accutely sensitive to the Holy Spirit as how He desires to lead you, that places you in right relationship with the Lord, such that you are God's little son or daughter! The Holy Spirit may either allow you to sense His urging you in a particular direction, or may even speak to you audibly.
When reading the word, a scripture jumps out at you. In your Quiet Times before the Lord, have you ever found that - as you're reading from your Bible - a particular verse suddenly jumps out at you? There's an excitement, as you say, "Yes! That verse fits exactly my situation! That's my verse!" The Holy Spirit has a way of illuminating upon the Word and opening our eyes to understand its meaning much deeper than what we would understand as a result of an dry, academic theological head-knowledge study that has no application nor pertinence in your life or anyone else's nor has the power to tell a flea to go away? The more you take those scriptures the Lord reveals to you and hide it in your heart, the more God finds you trustworthy to give you more revelation!
These are but a few examples of hearing from God. The important thing is to be open to any avenue through which the Lord choses to speak, making sure that these avenues are holy. For example, God would not speak out of a Mormon or a Buddhist or a Jehovah's Witness, nor would He use the Bhagivad Gita or Upanishad writings, simply because they reject the deity of Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God Himself!

Once in a while, God would use simple things to get your attention. God really touched my heart through a Bambi film in which Bambi had been wounded in his war against the hounds and hunters, and lay on the grass accepting death and defeat. That was very much my situation at one point. The King came and told Bambi, "Get up!" Bambi made a feeble effort, like I had, but gave up easily as I had. The King spoke with a voice full of royal compellation. "You must get up." Had I not heeded to the Lord's prompting through that movie, I might have remained in spiritual defeat much longer than I had been in, and had not arisen in God's mercy, righteousness and grace.

Royal Note: Sometimes God may want to speak through your nagging mother or your wife, and they may even tell you it's God!

Is it Biblical? Sure it is! In addition to the aforementioned scriptures in the section, "Hearing the Voice of God - What is it?" let us look at some additional verses. Here is John 10:1-16. Observe closely.
John 10:1-16 - 1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my [sheep], and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd.
The important thing to note is that Jesus is the Shepherd, and we are His little sheep. (Though some of our brothers and sisters may appear much larger than us, remember that it's all the wool - the outward appearance!) By default, spiritually, we as Jesus sheep will absolutely hear and recognize and be able to follow His voice. We will not know the voice of strangers, as it says in this passage. The thieves and robbers are, in verse 1, those who do not enter by the door of the sheepfold.
The door, in verse 9, is Jesus. People who claim to be shepherds of the flock but do not go by Jesus cannot possibly lead the flock and be a vessel of God's voice to His people. If heeded to, they will deceive the people of God.

Hebrews 3:7-12 says this:

Hebrews 3:7-12 - 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Israel was not able to enter into God's rest because they hardened their hearts against God's voice. And so the Holy Spirit, in this scripture, implores that of us "today."

How Come We Can't Hear? Good question. From what we've just seen in Hebrews 3:7-12, it is possible to harden your heart against hearing God's voice. Now that can be dangerous, because the consequence of that is not being able to enter into God's rest. It means a rest and repose from a lifetime of arduous effort of following the Law to earn God's favor. Israel gave up relationship for religion, and sonship for servanthood.
The following are various reasons why we can't hear God's voice. Some of them quite alarming.

Sin and Iniquity. With microwave technology, two buildings could communicate with rooftop microwave dishes - they merely have to be aimed one at the other without any object obstructing their transmission path. Occasionally, a pigeon lands in front of a microwave dish and gets roasted and dies, blocking the reception! The transmitting dish (God) is still fully functional, but we're in no position to receive. It's not so much our sin and failings but more an unwillingness to repent.
The difference between sin and iniquity is that sin can easily be forgiven, but the word "iniquity" in the Hebrew means, literally, "to be bent out of shape" - hence the expression that one has a "bent for sin." We have a bent for sin when we love the act we're about to commit far more than getting on our knees and just loving and listening to Jesus. We must pray, "Dear Lord, straighten all the iniquity out of us, that we would be obedient to hear Your voice!"

Preoccupation with the things of the world. Jesus showed in the parable of the sower in Luke 8:7 that some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked the seed. Jesus explains in verse 14, "And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection."
What did He mean? Galatians speaks of the Fruit of the Spirit, each of which are aspects of the Lord's character. When you receive the Word of God into your life, the Word begins a process of creating within us things that are lacking but are needed in order for us to be Christ-like - hence scriptures like, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalms 51:10). The "cares and riches and pleasures" of the world can cause us to not set us apart unto the Lord and allow the Word to affect change within our lives. In the end, we are no more Christ-like after that R-Rated sex- and violence-ridden movie than before we paid an arm and a leg to watch it! So let's examine our lives. Let's look at the things we allow to distract us from keeping our eyes solely on God.

Incorrect theology. One terrible idea nursed by pseudo-theological circles is that God no longer speaks today. In fact, in some theological seminaries, you may raise many eyebrows if you say you hear the voice of God with any clarity at all! The following are two lines of thinking:
1. Lack of understanding of scripture. Denominational churches tend to say, "In the old times, before scripture was written, God performed mighty miracles and spoke to His people so that people would believe in Him. So now that we have the Bible (i.e. Canonical Scripture has been assembled and completed) God no longer works miracles and speaks from Heaven."

Unfortunately, this is the same line of reasoning that argues that the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12) are no longer for today! Proponents of this arguement have somewhat failed to provide a solid irrefutable scripture supporting their premise. The best verse they've come up with is 1 Corinthians 13:10 which says, "But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." So they say, "Now that the Bible has come, the imperfect (the gifts) have disappeared."

Proponents maintain that the Bible itself is what the scriptures are referring to in the phrase "that which is perfect." While we do believe the Word of God is perfect, we by no means have a perfect translation of it. (However, a 100% accurate translation is not necessary to believe in, love, and grow in Christ. Our 98% accuracy - for example - isn't bad at all!) Interpreting this verse in this way is really taking it out of context. Examine verses 11 and 12: "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."

When we read it in this context, we now see that it is Jesus who is "that which is perfect." When Jesus Christ returns, we will see Him "face to face" and be know Him in His full majesty, glory and power "even as also I am known" by Him.

2. Denominational Bias. Some denominations maintain that the Bible - the written word of God - is the final authority and finality of all that God wishes to express on the Earth. They also say that you cannot have any revelation in addition to the Bible. These denominations also maintain that Psalm 138:2 says, "... for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name" so the Bible must be magnified above abolutely anything we understand of God!

In all sensitivity, and not to judge these denominations, I must venture to say that some have themselves (rather than God Himself) exalted the Bible even above God's voice! If God were to tell them to do something, they can easily adopt an attitude, "Oh that really wan't God. The Bible says, this...!" and thereby override God's voice and command with their own interpretation of the Bible. That get's kinda dangerous, if you ask me!

Yet, the word "word" in Psalms 138:2 is the Hebrew word "imrah" (Strongs 565) which can also be translated, "commandment, speech, word." In essence, this is the spoken word of God that God Himself is magnifying above His own name - which means that He is a man of His word (so to speak).

Is there any revelation other than the Bible? Let's just say that there is no other recorded scripture other than Canonical scripture. Clearly, God's words cannot be added to or taken away from. But what about revelation? What is it? The word "revelation" in the Greek is "apokalupsis" from which we get the word "apocalypse." It literally means "an uncovering". That means we all have constant revelation of who God is. As we grow in Christ, our understanding of Him increases!

That's why 1 Corinthians 13:12 says that we are seeing in "a glass darkly," meaning that we are not seeing the complete picture of all that He is. When the Lord comes to give us revelation, He gives us a peek at one more aspect of His character! Suddenly, our live is more exciting, because we understand something so awesome about God that we've not known before! To say that there is "no revelation apart from the Bible" in this light means that God cannot come and illuminate the Word and our understanding of it. Which further means that God does not speak to His people today.

Has God truly spoken all that He wishes to say in recorded scripture? Let's see what the Bible has to say. Romans 10:17 says "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." The word "Word" in the greek is "rhema" which means "a spoken word" versus "logos" which means "a written word." How else will we have faith to please God, if we do not develop a hearing ear?

Again, not to judge anyone, in Mark 7:13 Jesus said to the Pharisees that in honoring their man-made tradition, they were rendering the Word of God powerless and making it of no effect. In fact, Jesus was saying that they themselves were delivering and making up all this tradition that was nullifying the commandments of God!
How do we know it's Him? Excellent question! First of all, recall that Jesus says in John 10 that His sheep hear and know His voice. The grammar is in present tense - not present tense future imperfect conditional whatever, and not "They shall hear My voice up until the Bible in the King James is published in 1711 after which they won't understand the Word of God and will have to guess, and if Satan deceives them, I'll lose My glorious Church to the New Age Movement, cults, witchcraft and Satanism."
Indeed, many Christians have backslidden; we statistically comprise a significant number of those flocking to the New Age Movement - because we've not been taught to hear the voice of God but have been told to honor a tradition based on dead, dry dogma that has no power.

We need to be both doctrinally strong but be so sensitive to hear God's voice that if He were to speak "I love you!" we would be able to respond to Him and to His heart.

So how do we know it's God who is speaking to us, and that we're not making it up in our heads, or tell whether or not it's the Devil who is speaking to us? The Bible sheds light as to certain properties that the voice of God has.

God's faithfulness. Remember that when we are sincerely seeking after the Lord, the Lord honors that. Deuteronomy 4:35-36 says,
Deuteronomy 4:35-36 - 35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he [is] God; [there is] none else beside him.
36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
What a wonderful blessing, that the Lord loved us and our "fathers" in the faith! Above all, Jesus has been rooting for you and praying for you, always encouraging you. For His sake, the Lord comes through on our behalf!

God's voice makes our heart tremble. There is an inner impact when God speaks to us. It kinda blows you away! Sometimes He just gets your attention. At other times, when He speaks, it can be so powerful that you feel physically drained and have no strength left to speak! Job 37:1-2 says, "At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound [that] goeth out of his mouth."
God's voice has a particular sweetness. I've never recalled God speaking things in these times to strike fear in His people, nor to condemn them. Rather, it has been encouraging, full of life, comfort, promise, faith, and sweetness. Songs of Solomon 2:14 says, "O my dove, [that art] in the clefts of the rock, in the secret [places] of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet [is] thy voice, and thy countenance [is] comely." The dove in the Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit. It is the voice of the Holy Spirit.
God's voice brings peace. Psalm 85:8 says, "I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Whenever you hear a "voice" and it bring fear, anxiety, trepidation, it's generally safe to say that it's not from God. However, that's not to say that God cannot warn you if you are purposely walking path that is in a dangerous direction away from Him.
God will never speak to you anything that directly contradicts with Scripture. As we saw in Psalms 138, God is a man of His word - so to speak. What God says in His integrity, royalty, and divinity and power, He cannot contradict. If He contradicts Himself, He is not God. If God promises in the Bible, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" and then, like Baal, run off to go to sleep and not hear you pray, He's not God. Again, if God says, "Thou shalt not commit murder" and some guy claims, "God told me I could kill that man to glorify Him!" would you say that this person was truly hearing from God, or perhaps he's deceived and is really hearing from the devil? The Word of God is a good standard and is like a lie-detector against the devil.
(Also, what He says to us is not to add to Scipture, nor to revoke or remove it. Please be aware of this if you belong to a church where there is another Book that is used in equal or superior standing to the 66 books of the Bible!)

Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

How Can I Hear His Voice? The opening scripture in Acts 22:14 says, "And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth." Religious people may argue, "That scripture was meant only for the Apostle Paul!" but we must really ask ourselves: did Paul ever exhalt himself in stature and rank above any of us? Rather, we've all been chosen. We've all been washed in the Blood of the Lamb! We've all been drawn unto God. We're all called to hear His voice, not just a select few.
In Revelation 2:15, Jesus tells the Church of Pergamos that He's displeased that some ascribe to the Doctrine of the Nicolatians, which He hates. Nicolas was a man in this era who taught that there needs to be a spiritual elite who does all your penance, sacraments, hears God for you, etc. But recall that Jesus is not seeking for a spiritual elite but that we all come to Him like little children, because if our hearts are not like that of a little child, we cannot enter into the Kingdom of heaven!

In John 10, Jesus said that we are His sheep, and His sheep know His Voice. But Psalms 95:7 warns us that if we do hear His voice, we must not harden our hearts like the people of Israel did in the Wilderness, where they tried and tempted God, and so that entire generation perished. It was the next generation - a generation after the heart of God that entered into the Promised Land.

Daniel 11:32 says, "... but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits]." God wants to work great exploits through our lives! The world may say one thing. Our circumstances may say another, and the Devil may indeed try to have his own way, but when we hear a Word from God, be it through the scriptures or right in our very ear (possibly a scripture we didn't even know was already in the Bible!) we can use that Word as judicial punishment against the words of darkness. Isaiah 54:17 says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper!

So how can we better hear the voice of God?

Repent of all unconfessed sin, and ask God to heal you of all iniquity, all bents for sin. Ask the Lord to show you what attitudes and what behavioral patterns are unrepentant in your life that you need to change, especially if these are causing you not to hear His voice.
Be ever so willing to not only seek after His face and to hear His voice, but to be obedient. One elderly saint once told me in his own simple words: "I pray, then I obey!"
Be willing to receive God's instruction in any way, shape or form in which the Lord wants to present it. You may not necessarily like the message - especially if you don't like the messenger! Change your attitude if you are only willing to hear from God if He is to speak only a certain way, or answer with such an answer!
When in prayer, be in an attitude of waiting on God, not just calling out each item of your To-Do list to Him! Remember, He is our Shield and Buckler, not our Chef and Butler!
Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Rest in Him. Trust in His grace. You may not hear immediately (then again, sometimes you will). Sometimes you may wait on the Lord in your prayer time, read the Word, and then leave the house for the day. You might not have heard anything by then, but because you've faithfully sought the Lord that morning, you've developed your sensitivity in your spirit to hear God's voice. And in the midst of your circumstance, be it in class, or a situation on campus, or in the office, the Lord may speak to you or show you things highly pertinent to your situation!
There is such a thing as drainage. We are encouraged to be filled with the Spirit on a daily basis. But there are things in the world that may case that anointing to drain off until we become as dry as a dead river bed, unable to bring life to anyone! It can be that magazine under your mattress, that relationship that is not of God, a particular lifestyle that causes you to sin constantly. God spoke to the prophets in the Old (and New) Testament because they were friends with God. Love of the world puts you at enmity with God.
A Personal Testimony Several years ago, the moment I learned that I can learn to hear God's voice for myself, I went crazy and began to look up all the teachings I could find, all the sermon tapes of as many television and radio ministries I could find. Now some of them did have good content, and some were not exactly anointed of the Lord!
I must have spent several hundred dollars total on tape series, books, etc. and ended up hearing... well, nothing.

This was very disturbing, as I couldn't just ship all these tapes and books back and complain, "Hey! I want my money back!".

But then the Lord brought a little conviction. He showed me that I was pursuing so hard to hear the spoken Word of the Lord that I was not going to listen to anything from Him that was not His audible voice. So I repented and told the Lord, "Okay. From now on, I'll be open to any way You wish to speak through me." And then, just like that, I began to hear Him!

Only it wasn't quite like what I wanted to hear! One day, I got on a bus on my way to work. The bus was so full of kids that I had to stand on the stairwell. I heard this little kid talk to the driver. "Yeah," he said, "and the doctors said that because my shoulder's broken, that cartilege will set in the fracture and then when my arm's healed, it will be about an inch longer."

Ouch. That's not easy to live with. My heart beat with a desire to pray for this kid, but I couldn't possibly do it in front of all those other kids! So I prayed this very pioused religious-sounding prayer that sounds a lot like some of these television preachers! "Dear God! I pray... that You will send Your witness to this boy, to pray for the healing of his shoulder."

And the Lord replied, "What a great idea... why don't you go pray for him?"

At first, I was going to say, "No, Lord!!!!" but resolved to swallow and say, "Okay, Lord, but You gotta give me an opening--!" And at that, the bus stopped, the bus door behind me opened, and all the kids filled out to school. And the only person left was me, the driver, and the boy! I said, "Hey kid, c'mere. Tell me about your shoulder." So I had a chance to pray for the kid and give him a cool comic-book tract.

Several weeks later, on my way to work, across the bus, I saw a little kid waving to get my attention. "Uh, hey, remember me? The kid with the shoulder? Er... it feels better now!"

Hallelujah! It's not so much being at the right place at the right time but being the right person God can use. This is but one exciting example of many others I've had of hearing God's voice. It should be a common occurance in our Christian lives.

Also, there have been instances where God has told me, "You're going to get this job" on my way to a job interview. You may say, "Now that's just coincidence!" but there was one situation where the Lord told me the exact starting salary they were going to offer me. And when I spoke with them over the phone, that was the exact same amount that the Lord had told me. How I had doubted - I actualy was hoping for more!

Pollution And Ozone Depletion

Can you say that the air we breathe in is pure or the water we use is clean?
The reason is pollution
What is pollution is it natural or man-made ? What are its causes and effects? let us try to out the answer.
Definitio
Pollution is an undesirable change in physical, chemical and biological characteristics of our land, air or water caused by excessive accumulation of pollutants.
kinds of pollution
The pollution is of four major types namely air pollution, water pollution, land pollution. In terms of origin it may be natural or anthropogenic (man-made).
Air Pollution

Degradation of air quality and natural atmospheric condition constitute air pollution. The air pollutant may be a gas or particulate matter.
Air pollutants and their effects
1.Particulate matter-it comprises of small suspended particles such as soot, dust, pesticides, etc., and biological agents such as spores, pollen and dust mites. It causes respiratory ailments such as asthma, chronic  bronchitis, etc.,
2.Carbon monoxide-is a productof incomplete combustion of fossil fuels in automobiles. It  is highly poisonous to most animals. when inhaled, carbon monoxide reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of blood.
3.Hydrocarbons-hydrocarbons such as methane, are evolved from soil microbes (methanogens)in flooded rice fields and swamps. They aer also generated during the burning of coal and petroleum products,
4.Sulphur dioxide-is released from oil refineries and ore smelters which use the sulphur containing fuels. It causes harmful effects on plants and animals. Itcauses chlorosis  and necrosis .In human, it causes health problems such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema.
5.Nitrogen oxides-It causes reddish brown haze in traffic congested city air which contributes to heart and lung problems.
Secondary Effects Of Air Pollution
Photochemical smog- Smog is a mixture of smoke and fog. It is formed in the atmosphere under the influence of sunlight by the photochemical reactions of hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen and oxygen resulting in the formation of PAN(peroxy acetyl  nitrate).PAN damages the chlorophyII and thus reduces photosynthesis and growth/It also causes acute irritation of eyes and throat. Visibillity of the surrounding is reduced due to smong.
Acid rain- gases such as Sulphur dioxide and Nitrogen oxides  are oxidized to from sulphuric  and nitric acids along with water, and precipitate as acid rain.It damages building materials, plants and animals. It also makes the soil acidic.
water pollution

water pollution is defined as the adding of unwanted substances or the change of physical and chemical characteristics of water in any way which makes it unfit for human consumption. It is caused by waste products of industries, domestic sewage, oil spillage, agricultural and industrial run off etc.,
1.Industrial wastes-The industrial effluents containing heavy metals and chemicals such as arsenic, cadmium, copper, chromium, mercury, zinc, nickel, etc., are directly released into the water bodies such as lakes, ponds and rivers without proper treatment. These wastes contaminate the water bodies and make them unsuitable for human consumption. Hot water is another noted pollutant from industries. Many industries use water as a coolant for the machinery and  release of hot waste water into the water bodies causing thermal pollution which affect both the plant and animal life.
2.The surface run off-The surface run off from agricultural land is contaminated with pesticides and residues of inorganic fertillizers.and industrial are rich in organic and inorganic compounds. These pollutants contaminate both surface and ground water resources.
3.Oil spills-An oil spill is an accidental discharge  of petroleum products in oceans and estuaries from capsized oil tankers, offshore drilling and exploration operations. It can cause drastic damage to the marine and coastal bio diversity.
4. Domestic  Sewage-It is rich in organic matter and detergents. Decomposition of organic matter increases the nutrient content of the water bodies. Availability of excess nutrients results in algal bloom on the surfase of water resulting in the deficiency of oxygen content(BOD-Biological Oxygen Demand). This in turn leads to the death of aquatic organisms. This process is known as Eutrophication.

Control of water pollution
1.Sewage treatment   plants should be installed to treat sewage before releasing into water bodies.
2.Excessive use of pesticides, herbicides and fertillizers should be avoided.
3.Bioligical control of insect pests and organic farming is to be followed in order to reduce the dependence on pesticides and inorganic fertillizers.
4.By legislation and strict enforcement.
5. By creating social awareness among people about the water pollution and the need for pure water.

Anatomy

The 5 digits are attached to the forearm by a joint called the wrist (carpus).

The thumb (connected to the trapezium) is located on one of the sides, parallel to the arm.
Illustration depicting the bones of the human hand

The palm has five bones known as metacarpal bones, one to each of the 5 digits. Human hands contain fourteen digital bones, also called phalanges, or phalanx bones: two in the thumb (the thumb has no middle phalanx) and three in each of the four fingers. These are the distal phalanx, carrying the nail, the middle phalanx, and the proximal phalanx.

Sesamoid bones are small ossified nodes embedded in the tendons to provide extra leverage and reduce pressure on the underlying tissue. Many exist around the palm at the bases of the digits; the exact number varies between different people.

The articulations are: interphalangeal articulations between phalangeal bones, and metacarpophalangeal joints connecting the phalanges to the metacarpal bones.

The pulp of a finger is the fleshy mass on the palmar aspect of the extremity of the finger.

Muscles
Muscles and other structures of wrist and palm

Muscles of the fingers can be subdivided into two groups: the extrinsic and intrinsic muscle groups. The extrinsic muscle groups are the long flexors and extensors. They are called extrinsic because the muscle belly is located on the forearm.

The intrinsic muscle groups are the thenar and hypothenar muscles (thenar referring to the thumb, hypothenar to the small finger), the interossei muscles (between the metacarpal bones, four dorsally and three volarly) and the lumbrical muscles. These muscles arise from the deep flexor (and are special because they have no bony origin) and insert on the dorsal extensor hood mechanism. The intrinsic muscles of hand can be remembered using the mnemonic, "A OF A OF A" for, Abductor pollicis brevis, Opponens pollicis, Flexor pollicis brevis, Adductor pollicis (thenar muscles) and Opponens digiti minimi, Flexor digiti minimi brevis, Abductor digiti minimi (hypothenar muscles).

The fingers have two long flexors, located on the underside of the forearm. They insert by tendons to the phalanges of the fingers. The deep flexor attaches to the distal phalanx, and the superficial flexor attaches to the middle phalanx. The flexors allow for the actual bending of the fingers. The thumb has one long flexor and a short flexor in the thenar muscle group. The human thumb also has other muscles in the thenar group (opponens and abductor brevis muscle), moving the thumb in opposition, making grasping possible.

The extensors are located on the back of the forearm and are connected in a more complex way than the flexors to the dorsum of the fingers. The tendons unite with the interosseous and lumbrical muscles to form the extensorhood mechanism. The primary function of the extensors is to straighten out the digits. The thumb has two extensors in the forearm; the tendons of these form the anatomical snuff box. Also, the index finger and the little finger have an extra extensor, used for instance for pointing. The extensors are situated within 6 separate compartments. The 1st compartment contains abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis. The 2nd compartment contains extensors carpi radialis longus and brevis. The 3rd compartment contains extensor pollicis longus. The extensor digitorum indicis and extensor digititorum communis are within the 4th compartment. Extensor digiti minimi is in the fifth, and extensor carpi ulnaris is in the 6th.
Anomalies and diseases
Radiograph of Type 1 Syndactyly

A rare anatomical variation affects 1 in 500 humans, in which the individual has more than the usual number of digits; this is known as polydactyly. A human may also be born without one or more fingers or underdevelopment of some fingers such as symbrachydactyly. Extra fingers can be functional. One individual with seven fingers not only used them but claimed that they “gave him some advantages in playing the piano.”

Phalanges are commonly fractured. A damaged tendon can cause significant loss of function in fine motor control, such as with a mallet finger.

Finger locking is the act of locking the middle joint of a finger in place, and bending the very last joint independently from the others. Many people have the ability to do this in only one hand or even in both, depending on how the muscles are formed in the hand. Finger locking may cause pain.[citation needed]

The fingers are commonly affected by diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Diabetics often use the fingers to obtain blood samples for regular blood sugar testing. Raynaud's phenomenon is a neurovascular disorder that affects the fingers.

Research has linked the ratio of lengths between the index and ring fingers to higher levels of testosterone, and to various physical and behavioral traits such as penis length and risk for development of alcohol dependence.

Each finger has an orderly somatotopic representation on the cerebral cortex in the somatosensory cortex area 3b, part of area 1 and a distributed, overlapping representations in the supplementary motor area and primary motor area.

The somatosensory cortex representation of the hand is a dynamic reflection of the fingers on the external hand: in syndactyly people have a clubhand of webbed, shortened fingers. However, not only are the fingers of their hands fused, but the cortical maps of their individual fingers also form a club hand. The fingers can be surgically divided to make a more useful hand. Surgeons did this at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery in New York to a 32-year-old man with the initials O. G.. They touched O. G.’s fingers before and after surgery while using MRI brain scans. Before the surgery, the fingers mapped onto his brain were fused close together; afterward, the maps of his individual fingers did indeed separate and take the layout corresponding to a normal hand.

jacobkrishnak( ALEXANDER The GREAT)

IN LESS THAN FOUR YEARS, a brilliant young general created the largest empire the world had ever seen. The empire was the creation of Alexander the Great of Macedon, a gifted leader who inspired tremendous loyalty from his troops.
it stretched from Greece in the west to india in the east.Alexander's sudden death at the age of 33 led to the empire's collapse,  but it lived on in a series of towns that spread Greek culture eastwards.
These cities, all called Alexandria after their founder, opened up a trade between Aisa and Europe that survived for centuries.
         ALEXANDER;S EMPIRE

When Alexander become king of Macedon in 336 BC,Greece was dominated by Persia. In a series of brilliant military campaigns, Alexander defeated Persia and created his vast empire.
         EARLY LIFE
Alexander was born in 356 BC, the son of king philip II of Macedon (359-336 bc). As a young man he went on military campaigns with his father.
Alexander won fame for taming a wild black horse called Bucephalus, which stayed with him throughour his whole life
       DEATH OF ALEXANDER

in323 BC Alexander caught a fever in the city of Babylon. Although he was only 33, he died.
This sudden death meant that Alexander did not have time to consolidate his rule or even name his successor. Within a few years of his death, the huge Macedonian Empire had collapsed.

jacobkrishnak(How To Attrack)

http://nalavan.blogspot.in

1. Don’t Disregard the Basics
Even the best ninja-level seduction tricks will be useless if you don’t practice good fundamentals. You may have heard of, or even used, these maneuvers before, but their success makes them worth repeating. For starters, always keep your group of girls nice and small. “It’s ideal to go out with just one or two other friends,” says relationship expert Krista Bloom, PhD, author of The Ultimate Compatibility Quiz. “If you’re with a larger group, pair off for 30-minute intervals to give guys the opportunity to come up to you.”

Choose your wingwomen wisely — you want to be surrounded by friends who are outgoing and don’t need to be babysat — and avoid standing so that your shoulders are squared toward each other; physical openness will send the message that you’re okay with being approached and not engrossed in an intimate convo. Be sure to plant yourselves in a high-traffic area near the center of the room...but never near an exit. You may get noticed there, but dudes who constantly eyeball the door are likely to be always looking for the next best thing.

http://nalavan.blogspot.in
2. Show Off Your Neck and Shoulders
Now on to more stealthy tactics. It’s certainly no secret that men are visual creatures. However, it turns out that convincing a guy to approach is far more complex than simply undoing an extra button. “It has less to do with displaying lots of cleavage and more to do with flaunting your shoulders,” says David Givens, PhD, author of Love Signals.

While men are evolutionarily attracted to both bare skin and soft, round shapes (duh), they also have a more developed subconscious that equates boobs spilling out of a too-tight dress with desperation. So opt for a slightly more discreet body-skimming halter or tube top to give off a confident, sexy vibe.

A bonus tip: Be sure to draw attention to your neck dimple — the little indentation beneath your throat and just above your clavicle — with an eye-catching necklace. Research shows that this often overlooked area is alluring to men because it represents femininity and vulnerability.

3. Use Your Drink as a Seduction Prop
A drink can be a great tool if handled correctly — as a conversation piece or to clink glasses with him flirtatiously. Just avoid using it as a security blanket. “Cradling a drink in front of you puts up a subtle barrier,” says body-language expert Greg Hartley, coauthor of I Can Read You Like a Book. “It shows discomfort when you’re fiddling with your straw or a bottle label.” To avoid looking like a stressball with lipstick, set down your vodka on the bar or a nearby table now and then to use your hands while telling an especially funny story to a friend — it broadcasts your energy, which is superattractive

4. Subtly Show Off Your Lower Half
Most men won’t appreciate your killer pair of designer heels — well, most straight guys, anyway — but strategically encouraging them to bring their focus downward will still work wonders to lure them over. “When you’re seated on a banquette or bar stool, try crossing and uncrossing your legs every minute or two,” says body-language expert Janine Driver. “It’s a flirtatious action that draws attention to a body part that men crave touching.”

Another trick: While one of your legs is crossed over the other, dangle your shoe from your toes so that it’s half off your foot. Not only does this action indicate that you’re unlikely to bolt if he approaches you, but it also suggests that you’re extremely relaxed and self-assured.

5. Put on Your Best Game Face
It’s not enough just to stand there and look gorgeous. You also have to flash some fierce and flirty looks. “We’re finding that men need a whole lot more coaxing than you’d think,” explains Ann Demarais, PhD, coauthor of First Impressions. “You have to send a pretty strong message that you’d be receptive to the guy if he actually came over to talk to you.”

Always smile — sultry stares will backfire — and try this sneaky tactic to make him think he already knows you: “Flash both brows upward for a half-second and then drop them quickly,” suggests Hartley. “An eyebrow raise is a form of recognition, so you’ll have him scanning his mental database to figure out your connection and when he may have met you.”

In other words, his incentive to make a trek across the room is now twofold: He’s sure you took notice of him, so he’ll be encouraged by the flattery. Plus, he’ll be able to break the ice by asking if you know each other — without coming off like a cheese ball.

Jacobkrishnak(Whitney Houston)

1963–1976: Early life
Whitney Houston was born in what was then a middle-income neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey, the second child of Army serviceman and entertainment executive John Russell Houston, Jr. (September 13, 1920 – February 2, 2003), and gospel singer Cissy Houston (née Emily Drinkard). She was of African American, Native American and Dutch descent. Her mother, along with cousins Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick, godmother Darlene Love and honorary aunt Aretha Franklin were all notable figures in the gospel, rhythm and blues, pop, and soul genres. She met her honorary aunt at age 8, or 9, when her mother took her to a recording studio. Houston was raised a Baptist, but was also exposed to the Pentecostal church. After the 1967 Newark riots, the family moved to a middle-class area in East Orange, New Jersey, when she was four.
At the age of 11, Houston started performing as a soloist in the junior gospel choir at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where she also learned to play the piano. Her first solo performance in the church was "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah". When Houston was a teenager, she attended Mount Saint Dominic Academy, a Catholic girls' high school in Caldwell, New Jersey, where she met her best friend Robyn Crawford, whom she described as the "sister she never had". While Houston was still in school, her mother continued to teach her how to sing. Houston was also exposed to the music of Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Roberta Flack, most of whom would have an influence on her as a singer and performer.

 Early career
Houston spent some of her teenage years touring nightclubs where her mother Cissy was performing, and she would occasionally get on stage and perform with her. In 1977, at age 14, she became a backup singer on the Michael Zager Band's single "Life's a Party". In 1978, at age 15, Houston sang background vocals on Chaka Khan's hit single "I'm Every Woman", a song she would later turn into a larger hit for herself on her monster-selling The Bodyguard soundtrack album. She also sang back-up on albums by Lou Rawls and Jermaine Jackson.
In the early 1980s, Houston started working as a fashion model after a photographer saw her at Carnegie Hall singing with her mother. She appeared in Seventeen and became one of the first women of color to grace the cover of the magazine. She was also featured in layouts in the pages of Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Young Miss, and appeared in a Canada Dry soft drink TV commercial. Her striking looks and girl-next-door charm made her one of the most sought after teen models of that time. While modeling, she continued her burgeoning recording career by working with producers Michael Beinhorn, Bill Laswell and Martin Bisi on an album they were spearheading called One Down, which was credited to the group Material. For that project, Houston contributed the ballad "Memories", a cover of a song by Hugh Hopper of Soft Machine. Robert Christgau of The Village Voice called her contribution "one of the most gorgeous ballads you've ever heard". She also appeared as a lead vocalist on one track on a Paul Jabara album, entitled Paul Jabara and Friends, released by Columbia Records in 1983.
Houston had previously been offered several recording agencies (Michael Zager in 1980, and Elektra Records in 1981), however her mother declined the offers stating her daughter must first complete high school. In 1983, Gerry Griffith, an A&R representative from Arista Records, saw her performing with her mother in a New York City nightclub and was impressed. He convinced Arista's head Clive Davis to make time to see Houston perform. Davis too was impressed and offered a worldwide recording contract which Houston signed. Later that year, she made her national televised debut alongside Davis on The Merv Griffin Show.
Houston signed with Arista in 1983, but did not begin work on her album immediately. The label wanted to make sure no other label signed the singer away. Davis wanted to ensure he had the right material and producers for Houston's debut album. Some producers had to pass on the project due to prior commitments. Houston first recorded a duet with Teddy Pendergrass entitled "Hold Me" which appeared on his album, Love Language. The single was released in 1984 and gave Houston her first taste of success, becoming a Top 5 R&B hit. It would also appear on her debut album in 1985.

Marriage to Bobby Brown and The Bodyguard
Throughout the 1980s, Houston was romantically linked to American football star Randall Cunningham and actor Eddie Murphy, whom she dated. She then met R&B singer Bobby Brown at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards. After a three-year courtship, the two were married on July 18, 1992. On March 4, 1993, Houston gave birth to their daughter Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown, her only child, and his fourth. Brown would go on to have several run-ins with the law, including some jail time.
With the commercial success of her albums, movie offers poured in, including offers to work with Robert De Niro, Quincy Jones, and Spike Lee; but Houston felt the time wasn't right. Houston's first film role was in The Bodyguard, released in 1992 and co-starring Kevin Costner. Houston played Rachel Marron, a star who is stalked by a crazed fan and hires a bodyguard to protect her. USA Today listed it as one of the 25 most memorable movie moments of the last 25 years in 2007. Houston's mainstream appeal allowed people to look at the movie color-blind.
Still, controversy arose as some felt the film's advertising intentionally hid Houston's face to hide the film's interracial relationship. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 1993, the singer commented that "people know who Whitney Houston is – I'm black. You can't hide that fact." Houston received a Razzie Award nomination for Worst Actress. The Washington Post said Houston is "doing nothing more than playing Houston, comes out largely unscathed if that is possible in so cockamamie an undertaking", and The New York Times commented that she lacked passion with her co-star.[95] Despite the film's mixed reviews, it was hugely successful at the box office, grossing more than $121 million in the U.S. and $410 million worldwide, making it one of the top 100 grossing films in film history at its time of release, though it is no longer in the top 100 due to rising ticket prices since the time the film was released.
The film's soundtrack also enjoyed big success. Houston executive produced and contributed six songs for the motion picture's adjoining soundtrack album. Rolling Stone said it is "nothing more than pleasant, tasteful and urbane". The soundtrack's lead single was "I Will Always Love You", written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton in 1974. Houston's version of the song was acclaimed by many critics, regarding it as her "signature song" or "iconic performance". Rolling Stone and USA Today called her rendition "the tour-de-force". The single peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for a then-record-breaking 14 weeks, number one on the R&B chart for a then-record-breaking 11 weeks, and number one on the Adult Contemporary charts for five weeks, thus becoming the first single to top those three charts simultaneously for five weeks.
The single was certified 4× platinum by the RIAA, making Houston the first female artist with a single to reach that level in the RIAA history and becoming the best-selling single by a female artist in the US. The song also became a global success, hitting number-one in almost all countries, and one of the best-selling singles of all time with 12 million copies sold. The soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 chart and remained there for 20 non-consecutive weeks, the longest tenure by any album on the chart in the Nielsen SoundScan era, and became one of the fastest selling albums ever. During Christmas week of 1992, the soundtrack sold over a million copies within a week, becoming the first album to achieve that feat under Nielsen SoundScan system. With the follow-up singles "I'm Every Woman", a Chaka Khan cover, and "I Have Nothing" both reaching the top five, Houston became the first female artist to ever have three singles in the Top 11 simultaneously. The album was certified 17× platinum in the US alone, with worldwide sales of 44 million, making The Bodyguard the biggest-selling album by a female act on the list of the world's Top 10 best-selling albums, topping Shania Twain's 40 million sold for Come On Over.
Houston won three Grammys for the album in 1994, including two of the Academy's highest honors, Album of the Year and Record of the Year. In addition, she won a record 8 American Music Awards at that year's ceremony including the Award of Merit, 11 Billboard Music Awards, 3 Soul Train Music Awards in 1993–94 including Sammy Davis, Jr. Award as Entertainer of the Year, 5 NAACP Image Awards including Entertainer of the Year, a record 5 World Music Awards, and a BRIT award. Following the success of the project, Houston embarked on another expansive global tour, The Bodyguard World Tour, in 1993–94. Her concerts, movie, and recording grosses made her the third highest earning female entertainer of 1993–94, just behind Oprah Winfrey and Barbra Streisand according to Forbes magazine. Houston placed in the top five of Entertainment Weekly's annual "Entertainer of the Year" ranking and was labeled by Premiere magazine as one of the 100 most powerful people in Hollywood.
In October 1994, Houston attended and performed at a state dinner in the White House honoring newly elected South African president Nelson Mandela. At the end of her world tour, Houston performed three concerts in South Africa to honor President Mandela, playing to over 200,000 people. This would make the singer the first major musician to visit the newly unified and apartheid free nation following Mandela's winning election. The concert was broadcast live on HBO with funds of the concerts being donated to various charities in South Africa. The event was considered the nation's "biggest media event since the inauguration of Nelson Mandela".

My Love Is Your Love and Whitney: The Greatest Hits
After spending much of the early and mid 1990s working on motion pictures and their soundtrack albums, Houston's first studio album in eight years, the critically acclaimed My Love Is Your Love, was released in November 1998. Though originally slated to be a greatest hits album with a handful of new songs, recording sessions were so fruitful that a new full-length studio album was released. Recorded and mixed in only six weeks, it featured production from Rodney Jerkins, Wyclef Jean and Missy Elliott. The album debuted at number thirteen, its peak position, on the Billboard 200 chart. It had a funkier and edgier sound than past releases and saw Houston handling urban dance, hip hop, mid-tempo R&B, reggae, torch songs, and ballads all with great dexterity.
From late 1998 to early 2000, the album spawned several hit singles: "When You Believe" (US No. 15, UK No. 4), a duet with Mariah Carey for 1998's The Prince of Egypt soundtrack, which also became an international hit as it peaked in the Top 10 in several countries and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song; "Heartbreak Hotel" (US No. 2, UK No. 25) featured Faith Evans and Kelly Price, received a 1999 MTV VMA nomination for Best R&B Video, and number one on the US R&B chart for seven weeks; "It's Not Right But It's Okay" (US No. 4, UK No. 3) won Houston her sixth Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance; "My Love Is Your Love" (US No. 4, UK No. 2) with 3 million copies sold worldwide; and "I Learned from the Best" (US No. 27, UK No. 19). These singles became international hits as well, and all the singles, except "When You Believe", became number one hits on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart. The album sold four million copies in America, making it certified 4× platinum, and a total of eleven million copies worldwide.
The album gave Houston some of her strongest reviews ever. Rolling Stone said Houston was singing "with a bite in her voice" and The Village Voice called it "Whitney's sharpest and most satisfying so far". In 1999, Houston participated in VH-1's Divas Live '99, alongside Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner, and Cher. The same year, Houston hit the road with her 70 date My Love Is Your Love World Tour. The European leg of the tour was Europe's highest grossing arena tour of the year. In November 1999, Houston was named Top-selling R&B Female Artist of the Century with certified US sales of 51 million copies at the time and The Bodyguard Soundtrack was named the Top-selling Soundtrack Album of the Century by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She also won The Artist of the Decade, Female award for extraordinary artistic contributions during the 1990s at the 14th Soul Train Music Awards, and an MTV Europe Music Award for Best R&B.
In May 2000, Whitney: The Greatest Hits was released worldwide. The double disc set peaked at number five in the United States, reaching number one in the United Kingdom. In addition, the album reached the Top 10 in many other countries. While ballad songs were left unchanged, the album features house/club remixes of many of Houston's up-tempo hits. Included on the album were four new songs: "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" (a duet with Enrique Iglesias), "Same Script, Different Cast" (a duet with Deborah Cox), "If I Told You That" (a duet with George Michael), and "Fine", and three hits that had never appeared on a Houston album: "One Moment in Time", "The Star Spangled Banner", and "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful", a duet with Jermaine Jackson from his 1986 Precious Moments album. Along with the album, an accompanying VHS and DVD was released featuring the music videos to Houston's greatest hits, as well as several hard-to-find live performances including her 1983 debut on The Merv Griffin Show, and interviews. The greatest hits album was certified 3× platinum in the US, with worldwide sales of 10 million.
On February 9, 2012, Houston visited singers Brandy and Monica, together with Clive Davis, at their rehearsals for Davis' pre-Grammy Awards party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. That same day, she made her last public performance, when she joined Kelly Price on stage in Hollywood, California, and sang "Jesus Loves Me".
On February 11, 2012, Houston was found dead in suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. The cause of death was not immediately known. It was later ruled by the coroner to have been an "accidental drowning". Beverly Hills paramedics arrived at approximately 3:30 p.m. and found the singer unresponsive and performed CPR. Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. PST. Local police said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent." On March 22, 2012, the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported the cause of Houston's death was drowning and the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use". The office stated the amount of cocaine found in Houston's body indicated that she used the substance shortly before her death. Toxicology results revealed additional drugs in her system: Benadryl, Xanax, marijuana and Flexiril. The manner of death was listed as an "accident".
Houston had an invitation-only memorial on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. The service was scheduled for two hours, but lasted for four hours. Among those who performed at the funeral were Stevie Wonder (rewritten version of "Ribbon in the Sky," and "Love's in Need of Love Today"), CeCe Winans ("Don't Cry" and "Jesus Loves Me"), Alicia Keys ("Send Me an Angel"), Kim Burrell (rewritten version of "A Change Is Gonna Come") and R. Kelly ("I Look to You"), interspersed with hymns by the church choir and remarks by Clive Davis, Houston’s record producer; Kevin Costner; Ricky Minor her music director; her cousin Dionne Warwick and Ray Watson, her security guard for the past 11 years. Aretha Franklin was listed on the program and was expected to sing, but was unable to attend the service. Bobby Brown, Houston's ex-husband, was also invited to the funeral but he left before the service began. Houston was buried on Sunday, February 19, 2012, in Fairview Cemetery, in Westfield

Jacobkrishnak(Make Paper)

Ancient Egyptians invented the first substance like the paper we know today called Papyrus. Papyrus scrolls were made by taking slices of the inner part of the papyrus stem, flattening then pounded into a hard, thin sheet. The word "paper" comes from the word "papyrus". The Paper that we know today was invented by Ts'ai Lun in A.D. 105, It is believed that he mixed hemp, mulberry bark, and rags with water, mashed it into a pulp, pressed out the liquid and hung it to dry in the sun.
Paper was born and this humble mixture would set off one of mankind's greatest communication revolutions.

Today there is a revival in homemade papermaking crafts. Not only is it a fun experience for you and the kids, but it's a good way to recycle waste into wonderful possibilities.

Below you will find a simple papermaking recipe to get you started. If this is the first time you are making paper, don't be afraid to experiment with different fibers, you don't have to stick with paper related products. Add whole flower heads to the pulp mixture after it has been through the blender. You can add scraps of yarn, tin foil, even seeds. Its all comes down to what you want.

Experiment with different textures and colors after all Ts'ai Lun did! Remember, some of your ideas will turn out while others may not. Have fun with it, express your creativity.

Simple Recipe:

Many types of paper that can be used include:

* Computer Paper (unprinted)
* Newspaper (If you want a grayish colored paper)
* Magazines
* Egg Cartons
* Old Cards (For heavier paper)
* Toilet Paper
* Paper Bags
* Non Waxed Boxes (Pre-soak in warm water)
* Office Paper
* Tissue Paper (For finer paper)
* Typing Paper
* Napkins
* Construction Paper

Supplies you'll need:

* Sponge
* Window Screening (mold)
* Wood Frame (old picture frame can be used too) (deckle)
* Plastic Basin/Tub (Large enough to totally immerse frame)
* Blender/Food Processor (For making paper pulp)
* White Felt or Flannel Fabric
* Staples or Tacks (For tacking screen on frame)
* Liquid starch (optional)

Instructions:

1. Select the pieces of paper to be recycled. You can even mix different types to create your own unique paper.

2. Rip the paper into small bits, and place into the blender. (about half full). Fill the blender with warm water. Run the blender slowly at first then increase the speed until the pulp looks smooth and well blended. ( 30 -40 seconds) Check that no flakes of paper remain. If there are, blend longer.

3. The next step is to make a mold. The mold, in this case, is made simply by stretching fiberglass screen (plain old door and window screen) over a wooden frame and stapling it. It should be as tight as possible.

4. Fill the basin about half way with water. Add 3 blender loads of pulp. (the more pulp you add the thicker the finished paper will be) Stir the mixture.

5. Now is the time to add the liquid starch for sizing.(This is not necessary but if the paper is going to be used for writing on, you should add some, the starch helps to prevent inks from soaking into the paper fibers.) Stir 2 teaspoons of liquid starch into the pulp.

Place the mold into the pulp and then level it out while it is submerged. Gently wiggle it side-to-side until the pulp on top of the screen looks even.

6. Slowly lift the mold up until it is above the level of the water. Wait until most of the water has drained from the new paper sheet. If the paper is very thick, remove some pulp from the tub. If it is too thin, add more pulp and stir the mixture again.

7. When the mold stops dripping, gently place one edge on the side of a fabric square (felt or flannel square). Gently ease the mold down flat, with the paper directly on the fabric. Use a sponge to press out as much water as possible. Wring the excess water from the sponge back into the large plastic tub.

8. Now comes the tricky part. Hold the fabric square flat and slowly lift the edge of the mold. The wet sheet of paper should remain on the fabric. If it sticks to the mold, you may have pulled to fast or not pressed out enough water. It takes a little practice. You can gently press out any bubbles and loose edges at this point.

9. Repeat the steps above, and stack the fabric squares on a cookie sheet. Save one fabric square to place on the top of the stack to cover the last piece of paper. Use another cookie sheet to press the remaining water out of the stack. (do this outside or in the bathtub, it can make a mess)

10. After you press the stack, gently separate the sheets. They can be dried by hanging on a clothesline or laying them out on sheets of newspaper. When they have dried peel them off the fabric and voila! you have paper!
